A Fun Mumbai Wedding With Pin-Worthy Decor & Glam Bridal Outfits!

Wedding Ceremony

A love story that started with a mutual love for music led Charvi & Akshay to start a new chapter. The two gave a beautiful turn to their love story and tied the knot in Mumbai. This grand Mumbai wedding took our hearts with its pleasing decor & glamorous outfits. From their pre-wedding shoot pictures taken at dawn break in Vashi, Mumbai to the bride’s lovely pink lehenga designed by renowned designer Neeta Lulla is mesmerizing us with their spark.

Meet Charvi & Akshay

How they met:

“My husband Akshay and I met because of our mutual love for rock music. On our first date, we realized we had exactly the same musical taste and spent hours talking about 90s grunge bands. We also seemed to be very similar on various other fronts. The first date lasted 5 hours, ending only when I had to head back to my hostel before curfew! Post this, we had to very quickly move to a long-distance relationship as Akshay worked in the US and I worked in Mumbai. After dating long distance for 1.5 years, he finally moved back to Mumbai and another year later popped the question to me.”- says the bride.

Pre – Wedding Shoot

“We planned the wedding entirely on our own as a family. Planning began soon after our engagement which was 8 months before the D day. Started with locking in the venue and photographer, booking accommodation for outstation guests, and then choosing the wedding outfits. All of this was done at least four months before the wedding, so we had plenty of time for other things.

I wanted a very earthy feel for my Mehendi instead of the usual bright colors, and so I chose a rustic handpainted lehenga and dull gold accessories. My Sangeet and Wedding outfits were decided by Neeta Lulla. She gave me two very distinct looks, with the Sangeet look being full red carpet glam and the wedding look being a soft monochromatic pink which put the focus on the bride herself. My absolute favorite look would be me as the bride on my wedding day, simply because the look, right from the color to the design, is who I am in essence. I definitely see myself rewearing my wedding dress later, and I think that speaks for its timelessness.”- says the bride.

Mehendi

The Mehendi ceremony had an earthy theme. Banana leaves and yellow marigolds made up the rustic décor, while the bride wore a cream, rust, and olive green hued lehenga with hand-painted birds and nature-inspired motifs. The groom wore a cream kurta set from Manyavar.

“Hansa Gajra is famous for her portrait Mehendi and so I requested for a bride and groom palm design. To show our music connection, I incorporated our favorite band Led Zeppelin &  logos and some musical staff notations in my Mehendi as well.”- says Charvi.

Sangeet

This had an old Hollywood charm theme to it. The Sangeet took place on the upper deck of the US Club by the sea, which was decorated with warm fairy lights and lanterns. The bride wore a classic embellished red gown with full flare by Neeta Lulla while the groom wore a tuxedo. As an ode to their musical connection, the bride, groom, and family friends put together an acoustic performance of their favorite songs, followed by a few dance performances.

Haldi & Choora

The haldi took place on the morning of the wedding at the bride’s home. The bride donned a yellow and white salwar kameez as she got smeared with haldi and received her wedding chooras in a #BhendeGetsKained embroidered pearl white & pink choora cover.

This Mumbai wedding was hosted at the pool terrace of Taj President before sunset, the mandap was lined with kaliras and decorated with baby’s breath, yellow marigolds, and greens. The yellow glow of the mandap beautifully complemented the onion pink and pearl blue hues worn by the bride and groom. Neeta Lulla personally designed the bride’s and groom’s wedding outfits. For the bride’s wedding outfit, she recommended a unique Onion pink hue and so they went with a monochromatic onion pink lehenga with gold motifs, pearls, and scatter sequin work.

Reception

The reception took place right after the wedding ceremony at the sprawling US Club South Lawns next to the Arabian sea. The décor was based on pink & white florals, with rajnigandhas and roses lending a sweet lingering scent to the salty air.

The Most Fun Part of Your Wedding Day

“I think the Haldi and Choora ceremony was the most fun, chiefly because it required no planning and it was at home sweet home! My relatives sang traditional Punjabi songs and I enjoyed dropping Kaleere on unsuspecting cousins.”- says the bride.

A Quick Tip For Other Brides-to-be

“Do your makeup early enough so you have enough time to take pictures! If possible, keep a gap of at least an hour between getting ready and going for the ceremony.”- says the bride.
