Shaan Tiwari and  Divya Sahai – the directors of Fotomagica Photography shared their thoughts on wedding photography. Words will always fall short to articulate the passion of these Prime Time National Award holders and MY FM 94.3 Winners for Best Candid Photography ?.

How did you start your journey as Wedding Photographers?

We started 5 years back, the initial 2 years we captured people, nature, landscapes and ourselves which fascinated us more towards photography. Thereafter, we decided to step into photography as a primary profession and we named our firm as Fotomagica Photography. We, Shaan Tiwari and Divya Sahai are the directors at Fotomagica Photography. Today, we have happy customers all across the country and good reviews over all social media platforms. It’s been a fabulous journey and applauding experience altogether despite various ups and downs.

What fascinated you towards Wedding Photography?

Undoubtedly, we are ardent about photography but what motivated us were the left alone people at night, stray dogs over the street and the beautiful chirping birds in nature. That’s how we got into wedding photography as we’re obsessed with capturing real emotions.

Your thoughts on wedding photography as an Art vs Business?

Weddings are chaotic where emotions burst from all over, from excitement to anxiety to tears. As a wedding photographer, we capture emotions in a single frame and our art has a motive of bringing delight and form everlasting memories for the couple. Wedding Photography is both an art and a business, but what drives us more are the people, emotions, the connection with the client and the relationships that we build along the way. It gives us immense joy in preserving happy moments and emotions for the couple and their families. It’s a blessing that comes along with the work.

For us, photography is more of passion than anything else because we love to capture emotions and happiness that can be seen only at the weddings. We feel very motivated when we capture good emotions, crazy people and beautiful pictures.

Tell us about your photography inspirations?

To be wed couple – So we would say that it’s neither the surroundings nor the decor. What kicks us is the enthusiasm level of the couple during the shoot. In case of, a difficult shot like they have to stand on a place, edge or even in the public place between the crowd, the comfortability and cooperation of the couple during the shoot is commendable.

What do you love the most about shooting weddings?

Being the directors of a photography firm, we would say that capturing each and every moment is special. It is difficult to choose any one because it can be disappointing if we miss capturing any single emotion as even the smallest moments make a wedding grand and special.

Haldi and Varmala ceremonies are the most fun to shoot as you experience madness and fun during these ceremonies. Some over-excited friends and family members are spotted tearing one another’s clothes. It exposes a different side of people as it refrains from the chaos of wedding festivities. The surroundings and people during these events are filled with positivity, enjoyment & full of emotions.

So far, what has been your favourite destination to shoot at?

It’s really very difficult to narrow down one because every destination is beautiful. We feel so blessed to have so many happy customers all around India. Being in the photography industry, we get to travel to amazing places. For us, each and every location is special and close to our hearts.

How would you describe your style of photography?

We believe pictures are our footprints. It’s the best way to tell people we were here. Candid Photography is our forte. Basically, we love to play with the zoom lenses.

As wedding photographers, what according to you is the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge arises when the client and the photographer are not on the same page. In situations like these, it’s the responsibility of the photographer to aware the client of all the aspects of wedding photography such as the number of photographers required to shoot the wedding. There are a number of scenarios in case of wedding photography such as the time of the wedding, duration of the wedding, the number of events, location etc. Keeping in mind all these scenarios the photographer and the client should have a brief discussion on the number of photographers required for the event and the timings of the shoot to avoid panic like situations on the day of the wedding.

What advice would you give a bride looking for a wedding photographer?

We consider wedding photographer not only captures but also assists the couple throughout the shoot. There are a few things that a bride should consider before booking a wedding photographer.

A bride should consider that the photographer is updated with the latest trends. It is good to have a photographer who is updated with the latest trends in weddings not just in photography but in other aspects such as decor too. It is important as a good decor or a background leads to great picture backdrop. We, at Fotomagica Photography, also suggest our client’s decor ideas, photo prop ideas for the haldi and mehendi coverage etc.

Secondly, if a bride is looking for a wedding photographer, she can consider having a female photographer in the team who is available when she needs any assistance or guidance during the shoot. In our case, if a bride needs any wedding assistance like regarding the dresses, makeup etc. Divya Sahai is readily available to help irrespective of time.

Lastly, the bride should have direct interaction with the photographers so that she is comfortable during the shoot.

What’s on your goal list for the upcoming year?

Hahahaha! For this upcoming year, we wish that weddings should happen all around the year rather than on specific months of the year. It’s good to shoot weddings in all seasons as it keeps us motivated and gives us an opportunity to get creative and explore our potential.

Thank you, Shaan & Divya, for taking out your precious time to give Wish N Wed an in-depth interview.
