This Multi-Cultural Wedding is not only about the love story of two people from different states but it’s a beautiful amalgamation of two different cultures, families & traditions. Our Punjabi groom Abhishek steals the heart of Kannadiga bride Likhita. And from the past 8 years there love is growing every single second. The love birds took their wedding vows in Jammu & their every function was a package of love, laughter & unlimited fun.

So, let’s witness the most beautiful wedding with stunning decor, gorgeous wedding outfits & endless memories of our lovely couple.

Meet Likhita & Abhishek

“I am a lawyer working in Dubai and my husband, Abhishek, is an engineer working for a Multinational Company in Bangalore. About 9 years ago, Abhishek came to Bangalore from Jammu to pursue his studies in Engineering and I was in law school at that time. We met through a common friend. My friend, who is a photographer, had uploaded a few photos of Abhishek to his facebook account and I happened to come across them. You could call it to love at first sight. I sent him a friend request he accepted it. We clicked instantly and it has been 8 years since then.

Our journey together would have been possible if our families weren’t accepting of our relationship. In the time we have been together we dated close to home and long-distance as we pursued our higher studies and career. All this has made us stronger and more confident about our love for each other.  Abhishek is a Punjabi and I am Kannadiga and we both follow our tradition and culture for the most part. The fact that we would get married was well understood and so shortly after my sister’s wedding, we were officially betrothed in a Roka ceremony in keeping up the tradition.”- says the bride.

 Wedding Functions

“It was long decided that our wedding will be held in Jammu as it is his hometown. I was studying my masters in Netherland at that time and all the groundwork is done by Abhishek and together we finalized KC Emporia Luxury Banquets and Resorts. The owner, management, and staff were cordial and were welcoming of all our requests.

Many ceremonies were conducted during the course of the wedding. The pre-wedding ceremonies were held in Ramada Jammu where my family and friends were staying and finally to celebrate with them in Bangalore we held our wedding reception at Princess Golf, Palace grounds, Bangalore.”- says the bride.

Devarasamarashane

As we blended both South Indian and North Indian traditions. Our wedding celebration started with a South Indian brahmin custom-named Devarasamaradhane in which we invoke God so that the wedding ritual is completed without any hassle. This event usually takes place at home.

Mehendi

“For this event, we flew to Jammu. I wanted it to be intimate so it took place in Ramada Jammu. I had called for the Mehendi artist from Amritsar and he did a fantabulous job. Above all, one of the highlights from this event was a surprise visit from my husband who danced his heart out.”- says the bride.

Engagement

Our South Indian bride Likhita looked regal in pink-colored Sabyasachi Lehenga on her engagement while the groom looked dapper in Tuxedo by Raymonds.

“This event was very special. My husband finally went down on his knees and proposed to me a day before our wedding. I was flattered even though it was at the last min. I would say it is never too late to make your partner feel special. Our families left no key unturned they danced till the sun came up. In January, Jammu is really cold it was -4 degree but nothing stopped our family and us from enjoying the event. We kept most of our events indoor because of the unpredictable weather conditions.”- says the bride.

Haldi and Choora Ceremony

“We kept both the rituals very traditional. As it was cold outside we couldn’t perform the ritual outside. However, it did not stop us from enjoying our Haldi. Choora ritual was very close to my heart as it was always a dream to wear one. It was an overwhelming experience. My maternal uncle and aunt were very happy to be part of this ritual as it was a new tradition and an emotional one. My cousins were really excited about tying kaleera because in South India we don’t get to enjoy this ritual.”- says the bride.

A Multi-Cultural Wedding

For the wedding, the bride chose beautiful pink colored benarasi saree by Anita Dongre & the groom looked royal in Ivory-colored sherwani paired with peach colored dupatta again designed by Anita Dongre. The two made the royal appearance in their own traditional look. The duo beautifully represented the Multi-Cultural Wedding at its best.

“Both the rituals were blended at our wedding. We had a night wedding with a south Indian brahmin ceremony, I am quite sure that nobody had a typical brahmin wedding at night. It is definitely one of its kind. We had a South Indian brahmin ceremony like maalai matruthal, oonjal, mangalya dharanam, panigrahanam, and last but not least arundati nakshatram. It was 2:30 AM and we had to walk barefoot to look at arundati nakshatram during which our feet were frozen but nothing stopped us from completing our wedding rituals. We added the sindhoor ceremony to blend in the north Indian tradition and complete the wedding.” – says the bride.

Reception

“Our reception was held in Bangalore for our friends and relatives who couldn’t make it to Jammu.” – says the bride. Our Gorgeous bride looked stunning in Red Colored lehenga designed by Anita Dongre while the groom looked handsome in dark grey colored suit with a red tie coordinated with the bride’s outfit.

From The Bride

Wedding Planner:

As regards the wedding planning, Abhishek and I took it upon ourselves to plan every aspect of our wedding from making the guest list to allocating rooms, seating arrangements, itineraries, name it and we did it all. It was fun to do all the work. Our wedding seemed so much more personalized because we had hand in everything.

My Wedding Photographers:

“House on the clouds” It was obviously going to be them as I had fallen in love with their work. There work is truly commendable. At the end of our wedding, they were more like my family than photographers.

My Make-Up Artist:  “Aliya Baig” I contacted her through Instagram. She is a gem of a person. Aliya Baig accommodated not only my requests but also kept me calm all the time. I would recommend every bride to choose makeup artist and photographer wisely as they are the only one who will cooperate and understand you in any chaotic situation.

So this is how our lovely bride donned the fabuluous designer outfits by Sabyasachi Mukherjee & Anita Dongre on her wedding festivities. This multi-cultural wedding story beautifully defines love.
