Meet Srishti & Akram

How they met:

“Our love story is like a Bollywood film, we come from 2 different ethnicities/religions, though we never felt so. Both our families have a modern, liberal outlook on life, and religion/ different cultural background is no bar when it comes to love, one has to be a good human being, that is it!

Our story started at a workplace. I took his interview for a job he was applying for at the firm. He still jokes about how he knew he was already selected but gave an interview only because he found me attractive. We worked only for a brief period but instantly clicked, and spoke for hours and hours about music, food, and shopping. After 6 years of going strong, we decided to solemnize our wedding and our families stood by us.”- says Srishti.

“Our wedding was a 3 days affair, starting with the Mehendi function. For Mehendi we coordinated the colour scheme of our outfits, I absolutely love the colour blue! All shades of blue call out to me, so I knew I have to incorporate the shade into one of the functions.

2nd day was our combined Haldi Function, where we kept a Yellow dress code for the guests, and Akram and I wore pink outfits. Finale was the Wedding, I’ve always wanted a morning wedding so our outfits were light-coloured and not too heavily embellished.

Akram’s style is understated and simple, so we went for a cream-coloured, Italian fabric Achkan with pants for him. As far as I am concerned, my colour preference was a light colour lehenga. I fell in love with this light olive green lehenga I saw at Chetan Sarees, the colour was beautiful and unconventional, exactly how I wanted my bridal outfit to be.”- says the bride.

Mehendi

“For the Mehendi decor, I went with a traditional Rajasthani vibe and multicoloured theme. We incorporated beautifully embroidered umbrellas, kites, parandis, and genda phools as a few of the main elements in the theme.
My Mehendi artist was Kundan Mehendi wala, who had previously done Mehendi for a few of my cousins and friends. I absolutely loved his work, the intricate design plus the deep shade of Mehendi, I knew I have to book him for my wedding.”- says the bride.

Wedding

“I loved how I looked during all my functions, maybe because I was physically and emotionally so invested in the process of styling my looks. My favorite was the wedding day look, the makeup was muted, understated, yet highlighted the right areas.”- says the bride.

The Most Fun Part From Wedding Day

“I loved the fact that we had early morning pheras, followed by cocktails and lunch. We completed the ceremony and danced our hearts out as a married couple. By 5 pm we were done and had an after-party at our new house.”- says the bride.

One Piece Of Advice / Quick Tip For Other Brides-to-be

“Every bride-to-be these days do their own research, they know exactly what they want. I don’t think this generation of Bride to bes’ need any advise. But If I had to suggest something from my personal experience, I feel brides especially a morning bride should go for lighter makeup for that fresh, natural, and clean look.”- says the bride.
