Destination Wedding in Bali, Indonesia at the time of Covid-19

Intro

COVID -19 has had affected numerous weddings, some being postponed to some just barely making it before the Lockdown Announcement. Destination Weddings particularly faced the fear of cancellation and something going wrong the most because their entire wedding depended on laws and regulations in different countries. Few months down the line since Corona Outbreak weddings have now been resumed to being more intimate and in-house weddings.  Well, today our blog feature is a destination wedding in Bali of Sheemal and Raj, that happened during the Corona Outbreak and was impacted by the same.

Destination Wedding in Bali

Here’s what the wedding planners  Shanq Design have to say about how they managed to pull Off this  7 Nighter Destination Wedding in Bali amidst looming Corona Fear.

Planning the wedding of Sheemal and Raj was a roller coaster ride. We initially planned it for Thailand, then Udaipur and then finally Bali. Well, Sheemal and Raj were very professional and sweet to talk to and we had all of our meetings totally virtual because they were based out of Fiji and Australia but with Indian roots. However, we were in New Delhi.

It took us about 6 months to plan the location choosing different places, pros and cons of all location because the guest list had 99% foreigners travelling from various parts of the world. We had the vision to provide them with exclusive Shanqh Signature Weddings where experience and luxury are given the importance. We finally showed them our chosen properties in Bali on a video call with reviews of our previous clients at those venues and its complexities and finally shortlisted a few.

We met in Bali for a show around, the experience of food and hospitality in the selected properties by understanding their likes. They were very impressed. We then went on the super-fast show around of properties that were good and why we weren’t choosing the right fit so that they knew what we had in hand.

We wanted to plan this as the most amazing and largest wedding in Bali ever, so we decided to plan a 7 nighter wedding. We planned a day in the cruise with Pirates theme and entertainment, one at the underwater, one at the beach, one at the Beach Garden, one in the heart of Balinese culture, one in the Bali Amphitheatre, one by the pool and one in the street market to provide the rich experience.

Well, do not forget, all menus and meals were customised based on the event like Mehandi had traditional Indian Food in Bali handpicked by Shanqh Luxury Events, Reception had a rich international feel, Cocktail had oriental, so on and so forth. Since international guests carry less weight, we maximised the value by staying our guests in different hotels in the course of 7 days – Ayodya Resort, Conrad Bali, and Sofitel.

The theme of the Events

Haldi coincided with Holi week so we did Haldi Holi on the beach, Cocktail was a dreamy theme, Sikh Wedding was on Royal theme, Christian Wedding was on a fairy tale theme, Mehandi was on the rustic theme, The Boat Party was on Pirates theme, well it was a plan to make every guest say WOW every day. We raised the bar of appreciation every day. Well, it was evident, there was a lot of pains put into the project. Entertainment included Fire Dancers, Belly Dancers, International Bartenders, Bollywood DJ and Singers, Art Choreographers, Bali Musical Groups among others. With a quirky customised website, everyday quotes and attractive hashtag, we knew we were pulling off something special.

Well as it sounds amazing, it was really rich. Remember, this was a COVID affected wedding. Right from making all precautions for Corona Virus in the venue, transport, transit, communicating with all the guests, arranging for alternate flights, speaking to cancelled flight operators, giving a daily COVID update of all countries, giving a daily update of all flight operators, it was a real responsibility. Well, at last, India called for lockdown on 21st March and we were into our 6th day as yet. There weren’t a lot of guests from India as such so it did not disrupt much. Since this was a long wedding affair, we anticipated any of the countries could call for lockdown and had prepared our backup teams and vendors beforehand. However, since we had a team based out of Bali as well, we completed the wedding extremely well. Manvir and Siddhant were on video call throughout even while on flight as Singapore Airlines allowed WIFI on the plane. It was the best wedding planner in Bali to date. All the guests who attended it witnessed something they had never done in their past. We took all precautions and we did everything to make this an amazing affair. We wish Sheemal and Raj a beautiful life ahead, they trusted us blindly on everything we were doing, we were treated like one of their family members or more. They bring happiness to our faces when we think of them.
