It’s an irrefutable fact that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for this Mumbai based Makeup Artist, beauty goes far beyond just appearances. To begin, can you please tell something about yourself and your start in the world of beauty?
Since my childhood, I have been fascinated by colours. I love to paint, draw and to play with colours. Working 9 to 5, in my prosaic job, soon made me realize that it’s not my thing. That’s when I decided to turn my passion into a profession. I enrolled for a 7-day course. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to assist other makeup artists in Bollywood and get hands-on experience in makeup. This is my small journey on how I started.

What are the biggest challenges makeup artists have to face?
If a client asks for something very unrealistic and that won’t look good on them, still making their wish true is our biggest challenge. Everyone wants to have a natural look, but the challenge arises when the skin tone doesn’t fit in the natural makeup look and requires much more to look flawless.

Some natural tips for maintaining fresh and flawless skin?
Hmm, I think it’s really very simple. For girls who have dry skin, I will recommend that they should apply a mixture of honey and coconut oil on their face. Because dry skin people start looking mature than their age. For girls with oily skin, I would suggest rubbing ice all over their face. These are very quick remedies that everyone can do.
In your opinion, what are the common mistakes you see women make on their makeup?
Some women are unaware of natural makeup trends and what type of makeup suits them. The most common mistake that most of the women make on their makeup is blindly following the trend set by the celebs. Because not everyone is Deepika Padukone or Kareena Kapoor and everyone has different skin type.
What’s latest in the trend for makeup?
Nowadays, minimal makeup is up on the trend. More heavy is the makeup, more mature you will look. I think traditional attire makes you look a little mature. It’s my advice to opt minimal makeup because that will retain your natural look.
